'There Was Magic,' AIDS Documentary About Hollywood And Fashion, Launches Kickstarter Campaign

WATCH: New Documentary Remembers First Major AIDS Fashion Show Benefit

When the AIDS crisis emerged in the '80s, Hollywood and the fashion industry were both tragically affected.

On February 19, 1987, Michael Anketell created the first major fashion show to benefit people living with AIDS.

With this beautiful event, the two industries came together to boldly declare a war against the epidemic. Designers such as Geoffery Beene, Gianni Versace, Thierry Mugler, Calvin Klein, and Isaac Mizrahi participated in hopes of raising money to fight back.

Afonso Salcedo, creator and co-director of "It Gets Better... Love, Pixar," which was featured in the "It Gets Better" anti-bullying campaign, is now directing "There Was Magic," a look at the star-studded monumental fashion show.

Salcedo is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to help raise funds to complete the film. Click here for more info.
